LSL Verification

Ensuring that no lead is left behind in Wausau’s water service lines is a top priority for the EquiFlow Lead-Free Program. To make sure every resident has safe, lead-free drinking water, the City of Wausau and the EquiFlow team need to verify the material of every water service line, from the city’s curb stop to your water meter. This is critical because service lines on private property, owned by residents, are often undocumented, meaning there may be unknown lead lines still present in our community. Your participation is essential to confirm and replace any lead components.

Why Verification Matters

EquiFlow and the City of Wausau are working diligently to identify and remove lead water lines by 2028. By verifying each service line, we ensure that no property is overlooked. We use multiple investigative methods—like historical records, water testing, and both interior and exterior inspections—to identify lead and galvanized service lines and confirm when lead is completely absent. Even if you believe your line has been replaced, this multi-step process is essential for accurate, citywide safety.
