EquiFlow is leveraging LIUNA’s 4,000-hour apprenticeship program at LIUNA’s local training facility, providing comprehensive hands-on training in lead service line replacement. This training enables local residents—no experience necessary!—to gain the skills needed to fill critical roles, helping to accelerate the replacement of lead service lines across Wausau and improve the community’s water quality. With LIUNA’s extensive experience and rigorous training programs, participants develop expertise in water infrastructure projects, preparing them for meaningful and lasting careers.
By building a skilled local workforce, the EquiFlow Lead-Free Program not only enhances operational efficiency but also fosters Wausau’s economic growth. These workforce development initiatives ensure that the Wausau area has access to capable contractors who can support future infrastructure projects, benefiting the community for years to come.
Through an innovative partnership with the Wisconsin Laborers’ District Council and the Laborers’ International Union of North America (LIUNA), the EquiFlow Lead-Free Program is addressing a crucial need in Wausau and beyond: the shortage of skilled labor for lead service line replacements. By investing in local workforce development, we are not only strengthening the community’s technical expertise but also creating sustainable job opportunities that benefit Wausau residents and families.
With over 500,000 members across the U.S. and Canada, LIUNA brings decades of experience and a commitment to safe, high-quality infrastructure development. LIUNA members are trained to work in diverse areas from road and bridge construction to energy systems, including solar, wind, and water infrastructure. Their dedication to excellence and safety make them an invaluable partner in delivering clean, lead-free water to Wausau’s residents.
Together, EquiFlow and LIUNA are creating a safer, more skilled, and prosperous Wausau—one lead-free home at a time.
